This Girl Powered Workshop is organized to engage and inform young women about STEM and robotics!

Last year's workshop turned out was amazing and we think the girls had a lot of fun. Huge thanks to everyone who helped us make this possible last year: Shannon Wilkinson and Diana Cowern for making guest appearances and Krispy Kreme and Tego Cyber Inc for providing treats and snacks at our event. Also huge thanks to Colleen Chalmers with giggleboxphoto for the pictures of the event!

This year we will be hosting a VIRTUAL workshop which will include a TinkerCAD activity, a VEXCode activity, a Girl Powered pledge, and keynote speakers

• 9:00 - Arrival/ Introductions

• 9:10 - Opening speaker: Shannon Wilkinson

  • ​CEO and Co-Founder of Tego Cyber Inc, 

  • Recipient of the 2017 and 2018 Las Vegas Women In Technology Award for Cybersecutity

  • Author of a book "Ripping Off the Hoodie: Encouraging the Next Generation of STEM Girls"

• 9:40- Breakout rooms. Girl choose to attend a TinkerCAD or a VexCode workshop.

• 10:10- "Git Up" dance lesson with Kacey Nielsen, a High Fitness instructor

• 10:30- Closing speaker: TBD

• 11:00 - Farewell and a Virtual GP pledge station: Girls will watch this video https://youtu.be/Ba7nxU_R9H4 and write their Girl Powered pledge. They can choose to take a picture with their pledge and post it on social media tagging @sloancanyonrobotics and using the hashtag #girlpowered.
